SBXXVi: Saquon Barkley Joins Roc Nation Sports

Saquon Barkley’s efforts throughout his junior season at Penn State built an unprecedented legacy for all PSU athletes. After leading his squad to a postseason victory, eclipsing a staunch Washington Defense, Saquon finished with 3,843 career rushing yards (90 short of all-time record.) He poured in 175 total yards and 2 Touchdowns against the Huskies as his Nittany Lions claimed the Playstation Fiesta Bowl hardware.

Rare Back of his Era

SB stands head and shoulders above any other running back in his class. It is only once in a while that a rare back of his caliber emerges. Saquon’s acclaim derives from his lateral quickness, elusiveness and top speed. His frenetic running style and escapability lead to 22 total touchdowns this season. Barkley’s versatility sets him apart from his colleagues. This year, he joined previous winners OBJ, Tavon Austin and Jabrill Peppers as the Paul Hornung award winner for most versatile and high level collegiate performer.

All-Purpose Poise

Notably, Barkley created an impact for his team and a nightmare for opponents. On September 23, 2017 against Iowa, #26 tallied up 358 all purpose yards (single game record.) SB excels in all three phases of the running back position. His pass catching skills out of the backfield coupled with his kick returnability make him an ideal back for the next level.

Carrying the Roc

Roc Nation selectively recruited Barkley for their sports agency and he responded well. On Wednesday, Saquon agreed to become represented by Kim Miale of Roc Nation Sports.

SB became the 100th first team All-American in the history of Penn State football.

He intends to return to the University in order to complete his degree in Journalism.

“Saquon Barkley is a once-in-a-lifetime type of player and it has been an honor to coach him and watch him grow into a fantastic young man, Saquon has left a legacy both on and off the field that will long be remembered by the Penn State community.” (James Franklin)
