Sneaker marketplace GOAT is slated to launch its third pop-up exhibit in partnership with Franchise Magazine. This time, they will pay tribute to basketball’s impact on sneaker culture.The pop-up, which launches in Los Angeles, is the final installment in GOAT’s multi-disciplinary gallery. It will celebrates the legendary events that have cemented basketball as the most influential sport on both streetwear and sneakers.Iconic sneakers on display will include an original pair of Air Jordan 4 OG “Bred” from 1989, the Air Jordan 7 OG “Olympic” from 1992 and Nike Zoom Kobe 1 Player Exclusives.There will be 25 individual basketball moments, each paired with corresponding sneakers, dating back to 1962 with an original pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars.
“This exhibit gives us the opportunity to explore the relationship and history between two of our greatest inspirations: basketball and sneakers,” said Justin Montag, Franchise Editor-in-Chief. “By sharing the stories of 25 iconic basketball moments through the sneakers worn during each event, the exhibit establishes the deep connection between the game itself and the significant role that style plays in its cultural identity. GOAT’s gallery has made it possible for Franchise to bring our love of the game to life in a nostalgic yet contemporary expression.”
Dubbed “Selected Works of Basketball Brilliance”, the GOAT exhibit will be on display until Dec. 31 at Platform: 8830 Washington Blvd, Suite 101, Culver City, California. Admission is free.
